Edited by: Imiarr Timshae on 10/07/2011 12:20:03 Edited by: Imiarr Timshae on 10/07/2011 12:17:14 My story:
I woke up on my first day and went out into Eve. First I saw engine trails, then I saw people with 10 drones out and thought "Wow, those things are cool". Then I heard about the blueprint lottery and trained for it, then I trained for ECM, then I trained for drones.
Since the first day went so badly, on the second day I went to nullsec and got ganked on a gate with "Session change already in progress" being the reason I couldn't jump. Despite the logs showing nothing, I decided piracy could be lucrative, but then everyone started warping to 0. I thought maybe a nano-phoon would be a good idea but they changed that too.
I decided to try to get my hands on a TII BPO but T20 (CCP Employee) only spawned them for the rich guys, and never got fired for it. So I decided to try out COSMOS arcs but they just end half way in. When that didn't work I decided maybe I could try moon mining until the third day, but CCP decided to change the bottleneck from Dysprosium to Technetium, which overall made no difference to the economy of nullsec whatsoever.
So instead I started hunting faction rats to get the faction tower BPC's but then they stopped dropping without any official statement whatsoever. Then I decided to train for a sacrilege because I couldn't have 10 drones or ECM - but the sacrilege became a missile boat, then I decided to train for caps. Then supercaps came and ruined the game, and then they removed the good jump effect and ignored two years of people asking for a simple graphic change back.
On the fourth day I decided I'd give up on all that stuff and start a standings business, but they removed the ability for me to see other peoples standings! So I thought I'd try PI, but one of my extractors was invisible due to an (early) post-release bug, and the GM who investigated it managed to delete all of my stuff on that planet!
So on the fifth day they released Incarna, and everyone I was close to quit the game!
That's my story - Eve is Real(ly bad)
Edit: Things that were not included in this story as they were good: Scanning Changes, Wormholes.

Originally by: Estephania So, in several cases you are upset that you've trained for a FOTM and CCP made actions to balance the FOTM out? Didn't you think that certain ships/fits are so popular exactly because they are unbalanced? I'm sure CCP are working on the super-cap nerf at this very moment, because if those are not balanced it's going to kill off 0.0.
The solution to this : Train for nothing. Nothing will never get patched and balanced. Nothing is reliable in Eve.
Also: Flavour of the month? I trained for a Rattlesnake, which was the way it was for... five years. Then that got changed too. So yeah, flavour of the half-decade, maybe |

I feel your pain, I was once in a similar situation - my corpmates were running Caldari lvl 4 missions and could earn tens of millions of ISK from loot and bounties. So, I've started to grind for standings. Guess what? When I could effectively do lvl 4's, missions were nerfed to hell and back. But it's the same in every other game. The devs always adjust and fine tune classes, spells, features, whatever. In no game the content is set in stone.
Not asking for it to be set in stone - it's just that most of the stuff that I appreciated when I got here, and ALL of the stuff I've adapted to replace the original stuff has been altered or changed until it is unusable. |

HTFU.
That's an argument that's more or less always applied to Eve in a variety of different ways. I've seen nullbears taunt highsec players and vice versa over different issues.
The point they all miss is that a subscription is being paid for this, and eventually paying money to "Adapt or die." becomes dull as dishwater. I've managed six years of adaptability and I'm still here, arn't I? I HAVE adapted, so I am still here. So essentially your statement is irrelevant anyway I should HTFU... what exactly? |

Why do you stay?
Can I have your stuff?
Sucking because?
Training FOTM - Moon stuff was the way it had been for 5 years. Faction ships 5 years. Faction tower drops, 2 years. Drones 2 years, ECM 2years. Nano gear, 3 years. It's not like it was suddenly good and then changed. They sequentially make things bad and so people find new ways to exploit vessel mechanics to make it do something unintended - when that is patched they just find a new one.
It's much less FOTM as it is "Man, they ruined X, lets try Y." then "Man, they ruined X and Y, lets try Z."

How much longer will it take you to realize that Eve is not the game for you? 6 more years? Did you buy a 10-year subscription and are just letting the time lapse by like the billion other quitters?
Because it's been getting gradually worse Started good and still got a bit of faith (not much). |

But lying, allocating insufficient resources, and completely changing the core nature of the game after 8 years is different. It's unacceptable. And it's worth complaining about.
HALLELUJAH SOMEONE GETS IT, the FOTM stuff is a sideline to this point. All the FOTM problem does it make it a ****ing tedious ***** to play. -----
